<p>A cutting tool (2) for removing the pelt from an animal carcass is disclosed. The cutting tool includes a handle (3), a disc blade (5) mounted to the handle and a guard (1) for the disc blade. The guard includes an inlet (10) and an outlet (9a) for a pressurised gas. The outlet is configured to extend forward of the disc blade when the accessory is fitted to the cutting tool. In use, the pressurised gas exiting the outlet is applied to the connective tissue holding the pelt to the underlying flesh of the carcass, in order to weaken or sever it. Subsequently, removing the pelt requires less effort from the blade and allows less energy to be expended by the tool’s operator. An accessory for a cutting tool and a method of using a cutting tool to remove at least a portion of a pelt from an animal carcass are also disclosed.</p> |
