<p>Disclosed is an independent braking apparatus for an elevator for braking and controlling an elevator separately from a main brake when the main brake of the elevator malfunctions or is inoperable. To this end, the braking apparatus of the present invention includes: a helical gear to rotate together with a pulley of an elevator; a driving gear to interwork and rotate with the helical gear; an electronic clutch to control a connection between the driving gear and a transmission gear; a braking motor having a central shaft to rotate by the transmission gear; a plurality of switching devices connected to a plurality of wiring, which are a stator of the braking motor; and a controller to control a braking force by supplying an operating pulse to the selected switching device. Accordingly, because the braking apparatus can stop the elevator gradually according to the operating pulse which is supplied by the controller when a malfunction occurs, users of the elevator can be protected.</p> |
