Disclosed is a method for stabilizing nitrile hydratase comprising chemically crosslinking a microorganism capable of producing the nitrile hydratase with an effective amount of a crosslinker such that the microorganism is capable of producing an amount of nitrile hydratase sufficient to convert nitrile compounds to their corresponding amides for at least 30 days at a temperature of at least 25°C, wherein the microorganism comprises bacteria selected from the genus Rhodococcus, genus Brevibacterium, genus Pseudomonas, genus Pseudonocardia, genus Nocardia, and combinations thereof. |
