<p>The method involves transmitting an electromagnetic alternating signal (TX SIG) from a transmitting coil (21). Another electromagnetic alternating signal (RX SIG) is received by a receiving coil (22) corresponding to a signal reflected from the receiving coil. A determination is made whether a phase difference between a phase of the former alternating signal and a phase of the latter alternating signal is in a range of predetermined phase shift characteristics of a ferromagnetic material at a given time.
