Frequency synthesizer and method of controlling the same

There is provided a frequency synthesizer, including: a phase-locked loop unit detecting a phase difference between a frequency of a frequency-divided oscillating signal and a frequency of a reference signal so as to adjust dividing of the frequency of the oscillating signal so that the phase difference is decreased within a range of the correction gain levels; an automatic frequency control unit sequentially searching a plurality of frequency gain levels so as to determine a first gain level corresponding to the phase difference between the frequency of the frequency-divided oscillating signal and the frequency of the reference signal; and a correction unit determining a gain correction value using the first gain level so as to determine the correction gain level by reflecting the gain correction value.
