<p>Fastener for securing a rail base flange to a cross tie includes an anchor secured atop the cross tie and having an attachment adjacent the rail base flange. A spring clip of unitary metallic stock has a pair of adjacent and parallel mounting legs terminating in distal free end projecting in the same direction and engaging with the attachment on the anchor. The engaged mounting legs are parallel to the running length of the rail base flange. A single loop joins the clip legs and includes oppositely disposed rail bearing and tie anchor portions engaging the rail base flange and anchor respectively. The loop includes a curved cross-over extending in a direction perpendicular to the running length of the rail base flange and connected at opposite ends to the rail bearing and tie anchor portions respectively. An end connecting portion in turn joins each rail bearing and tie anchor portions respectively, to the mounting legs the curved cross-over arm extends vertically above the plane of all remaining structure of the clip both when applied to the anchor and when removed.</p> |
