<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the good power limiting property without increasing the DC bias magnetic field by giving a perfect reflection to the microwave power transmitted from the 1st terminal to the 2nd terminal via the short-circuit face. CONSTITUTION:The short circuit (b) is given to the 1st terminal 1, the 3rd terminal 3 and the 2nd terminal 2 of the 3-terminal circulator via the input terminal, the output terminal and short-circuit face 9 respectively. As a result, the microwave power supplied to terminal 1 is transmitted to terminal 2 with the perfect reflection on face 9 to be transmitted to terminal 3. In this case, electric length between ferromagnetic substance end face 10 and face 9 is set to lambdag/4(lambdag: inside tube wavelength), so face 10 becomes equal to the face which is close to the open surface. As a result, the power limiting effect is improved (curve 13) compared with that (curve 12) obtained through two units of the power limiter (a) connected in series. The limiter (b) is used as the 2-terminal circuit element in which terminal 1 and 2 are used as the input and output terminals each with matching load 8 connected to terminal 3.</p> |
