PURPOSE:To miniaturize an oscillator, to obtain its high quality factor, and to simplify an adjustment of an oscillation frequency, by mounting a FET into a waveguide cavity. CONSTITUTION:Into cavity 10 obtained by terminating waveguide 2 by coupling window 9 and short plate 1, coaxial cable 4 which can supply a bias voltage is inserted about half the wavelength away from coupling window 9, and coaxial package type FET5, whose tip outer conductor can be connected to drain terminal 6 and inner conductor to gate terminal 7 is also inserted. Then, metal post 11 which can supply a bias voltage is inserted from the opposite surface to the waveguide surface, and source terminal 8 is connected to it. Next, the oscillation frequency depends mainly upon the distance between coupling window 9 and coaxial cable 4, but a fine adjustment of the oscillation frequency is made by inserting metal or dielectric rod 12, whose insertion length can be varied by screw mechanism, at the middle distance between coupling window 9 and coaxial cable 4. |
