<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and securely attach an ID code to a blank material for a paper container. <P>SOLUTION: While the blank material 1a for the paper container is carried in the carrying direction, the surface of the blank material 1a is irradiated with laser beam for applying printing to the surface of the blank material 1a. The laser beam is reciprocated in the direction orthogonal to the carrying direction. Thus, a plurality of continuous symbols 30 are formed by the laser beam, and each of the continuous symbols 30 has a start point 30a and an end point 30b on a reference line.
