<p>A barge is able to be moved to an operational site via the seaways. At the site is forms a landing stage for boats by the lowering of pillars to the bottom of the water. Ballast provides stability. A barge comprises a number of float tanks (1, 2 etc.) which support an upper deck (5) which provides a track for the traffic. Close to the four corners of the barge are vertical tubes (9) in which pillars (10) are mounted. Risers (11) are connected by stages and spacers and are welded to a foot (12). The risers are driven by a rack (13) and pinion gear to allow them to be raised or lowered by an electric motor with an interlock system. A ballast tank (18) is located under the barge and is adjustable in height via a motorised rack and pinion gear (29, 30) in tubular guides.</p> |
