The modular building has an approximately right angled triangular section with the hypotenuse forming the ground floor (C). It has part glazed (E) cladding (19) on the pitched surfaces (3) which are mounted on an inverted 'V' form timber substructure. The 'V' frames comprise timber rafters (2, 12) extending between a ridge beam (18) and a splayed upstand (B). Horizontal bracings (21) and longitudinal tie beams (22) may be provided at a second floor ceiling level. The kitchen (S) together with the bathroom (25), a chimney (29) stack, and a service flue are incorporated in a central block (23) beneath the ridge.
