The present invention relates to an apparatus for treating laundry which includes an outer tank opened upward and capable of accommodating water inside; an inner tank coupled to be detached and withdrawn along a vertical direction inside the outer tank, and having a plurality of connection holes formed on a circumferential surface to be in communication with the outer tank; a rotary body disposed in the outer tank to be rotatable; a driving motor rotating the rotary body; and a coupling portion disposed in the inner tank, and coupled to interwork with the rotary body with respect to the rotary direction in order to enable the inner tank to be rotated when the rotary body is rotated, thereby placing the inner tank at a location convenient for collecting laundry to easily collect laundry, and moving the laundry to a preferred location without detaching the laundry from the inner tank after washing to improve convenience of a user.
