<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To complete backup until a completion limit while suppressing stagnation of job processing. <P>SOLUTION: A CPU 101 calculates an initial minimum time T0 for data to be backed up this time when a completion limit is designated, and estimates an estimated completion time T0e from the initial minimum time T0. After the estimated completion time T0e meets the completion limit, backup is performed while forcibly switching to a single mode so as to completely back up the target data until the completion limit. Namely, an updated minimum time TR is compared with the remaining time and when a difference TD between the updated minimum time TR and the remaining time becomes difference TD≤threshold TS for a predetermined threshold TS, an instruction of forced switching to the single mode is issued.
