An objective of the present invention is to provide a method of selecting a seed area for tracking nerve fibers in the brain, which selects the seed area in a user-friendly manner in order to quickly and accurately define the seed area desired by a user, and an apparatus thereof. To this end, a method of selecting a seed area according to one embodiment of the present invention includes the steps of: matching a white matter atlas and a DTI image with each other; displaying a brain area list in which a plurality of brain areas showing the atlas are arrayed; and selecting a seed area from the displayed brain area list.
