PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator that can reduce the storage capacity of a storage device and easily detect the failure of a motion sensor by recording an image signal in a car when detecting a passenger with the motion sensor in the car.SOLUTION: The elevator includes: an imaging device which outputs an image signal obtained by imaging the interior of the car; the motion sensor which detects the riding of a passenger in the car; an image recording device which records the image signal output from the imaging device until a prescribed time elapses after the motion sensor detects the riding; an input means for inputting operation control information which exhibits that the passenger rides the car; and a failure detection means for detecting that the motion sensor causes failure when there is the difference exhibiting that there is the passenger in the car between the image signal imaged by the imaging device when the input means inputs the operation control information in such a state that the motion sensor does not detect the passenger and the image signal when the passenger does not ride in the car. |
