<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce image degradation by backlight dimming. <P>SOLUTION: A video output device comprises: a dimming value generation part 401 that generates a dimming value having an H length and an L length for performing on-off operation to one video frame in a time direction in order to flash a backlight part in units of video frames that backlights a video display part for displaying a video based on a video frame; and a division control part 405 that determines a division number of the H length and the L length in one video frame with respect to the time controlling the dimming value, and that controls a value obtained by dividing each of the H length and the L length in the dimming value by the division number, in a manner repeating for the number of times equal to the division number.
