<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a detection accuracy of a parking space by highly accurately detecting tip positions of parked vehicles in technology specifying the profile shapes of the parked vehicles based on detection distances detected by a distance sensor and detecting the parking space based on the specified profile shapes. <P>SOLUTION: This parking space detecting device selects a modeling range of a parked vehicle from a detection distance group from the distance sensor to the parked vehicle (a step 120), selects an optimal shape model having the shape optimally fitted to the detection distance group corresponding to a detection position group in the modeling range out of a plurality of shape models representing the profile from the innermost sides to the tip positions of the parked vehicles (a step 130), estimates the tip position of each parked vehicle based on the selected optimal shape model (a step 140), and calculates the dimension of the parking space between the parked vehicles based on the estimated tip position (a step 150). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
