Decorative material and process for the production thereof

For the production of a decorative material, for example a substrate for the thermal printing of textile materials, wallpapers, coloured films and the like, a printing ink is applied to one side of a continuously moving web and the web is guided through between rolls (4 and 5), as a result of which the ink is distributed over the web width and simultaneously an imprint of a specifiable pattern is generated on the web by means of one of the rolls (5) on whose surface the pattern is attached. Then the web is dried. The material thus obtained possesses a pattern with a dark or light contour, similar to a colour-etched pattern, the colour of the pattern and of the background of the web having the same coloration but being of different intensity. <IMAGE>
