Vacuum valve with a variable inlet cross-section

The invention proposes a vacuum valve which, during the purging of a vacuum system, does not restrict the inlet cross-section of the pipe conduit but, when required, can reduce this inlet cross-section reproducibly to a preselected value as often as desired or adjusts the inlet cross-section electronically as a function of a manipulated variable and which acts as a vacuum-tight shut-off valve.
