Emulsifiers for solventless and solvent containing mixing grade, oil-in-water cationic bituminous emulsions are disclosed which are the reaction products of polyamines and the polycarboxylic acids of the general formulae <IMAGE> or <IMAGE> wherein x and y are integers from 3 to 9, x and y together equal 12, at least one Z is a carboxylic acid group and any remaining Z is hydrogen.
