Provided are an apparatus and a method for determining pulse conditions. The apparatus for determining the pulse conditions may include a pulse rate measurement unit, a respiratory measurement unit, and a pressure condition determination unit. The pressure pulse wave determination unit extracts a pressure pulse wave to measure an average pulse rate of a user. The respiratory measurement unit extracts an impedance waveform of the user, removes a heart rate signal from the impedance waveform to obtain a respiration signal, and measures a respiratory rate of the user from the respiration signal. The pulse condition determination unit calculates a pulsation per respirator index (PRI) based on the measured pulse rate and the measured respiration rate and determines the pulse conditions based on the calculated PRI.
