<p>PURPOSE: A mobile terminal connected to external device and a charging control method are provided to sense docking with a docking device, obtain status information from the docking device, and determine the charge of the mobile terminal. CONSTITUTION: A docking interface(150) senses docking with a docking device and outputs a docking sensing event. A control unit(160) obtains status information from the docking device through the docking interface based on the docking sensing event and determines the charge of mobile terminal by using status information thereof. The status information comprises charge remaining information of the docking device. If the charge remaining information of the docking device is greater than a first threshold value, the control unit charges the mobile terminal. If the charge remaining information of the docking device is less than the first threshold value, the control unit does not charge the mobile terminal.
