A backlight unit according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a bottom chassis including a lower part and a side part surrounding the lower part; a light source plate with a light source attached on the surface; a diffusion plate diffusing the light emitted from the light source; an optical sheet which is arranged on the upper part of the diffusion plate and diffuses the light diffused by the diffusion plate for the second time; and a first mold which is arranged between the diffusion plate and the optical sheet to prevent the diffusion plate and the optical sheet from coming in contact and includes a first slope unit reflecting the light passing through the diffusion plate to leak through the side surface to the direction of the bottom chassis.
