The present invention relates to a mobile terminal which allows a user to set update cycles of multiple applications and a control method thereof. The method for controlling the mobile terminal according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the following steps of: installing multiple applications; setting time information on an update for at least two applications among the multiple applications to start to update the applications within a predetermined period of time; and updating the applications based on the set information.
