The device for measuring and recording the axial forces acting on an axial bearing (6) of a machine is described, which is of a structurally simple design and suitable for mass production. Constructed between the housing disc/washer (7) of the axial bearing (6) and a bearing surface (10) of the bearing housing (8) is an annular chamber (13) which has an essentially rectangular cross-section and in which there is inserted an elastically extendable hose (12) which is inherently closed at the circumference. The hose (12) has a pressure medium connection (14) for connecting it to a pressure sensor and for applying a pressure medium to it and prestressing it. By increasing the internal pressure in the hose (12) it is also possible to displace the bearing (6) axially and thus to set a specific bearing gap or, for example, the gap between the free screw tip and the end of the cylinder of a screw extruder or the like.
