The present invention relates to an electronic device which shortens the scroll on a chat window and a method thereof. The operation method for the electronic device includes the steps of: checking a selection operation for at least one message processing a message selected by the selection operation through a pre-defined method and displaying the result on a screen; and checking a release operation for the message to check the chat section storage history.
