A backlighting device (12) is provided with: LEDs (17); a light-guide plate (16) having a light entrance surface (16B) provided at one edge surface where light from the LEDs (17) enters, a light exit surface (16A) provided on the front-side surface of the plate where the light from the LEDs (17) exits, and an opposing surface provided on the side opposite to the light exit surface (16A); and a heat-dissipating member (19) having a heat-dissipating property, a bottom surface part (19B) disposed on the opposing surface side of the light-guide plate (16) so as to follow the opposing surface, and a rising part (19A) rising from the bottom surface part (19B) toward the light exit surface (16A) side, the heat-dissipating member (19) being provided with protrusions (19T) on the bottom surface part (19B), protruding from the bottom surface part (19B) toward the light exit surface (16A) side so as to face the two edge surfaces on the short-edge sides of the light-guide plate (16) while being locked into the facing edge surfaces, thereby defining the distance between the LEDs (17) and the light entrance surface (16B). |
