An ion mobility separation device having an ion source for generating ions, a pair of plate electrodes having an inlet port and outlet port for the ions generated by the ion source, a pump for causing the ions introduced from the inlet port of the pair of plate electrodes to proceed to the outlet port, a voltage control unit for applying an asymmetric time-varying voltage and a DC voltage to the pair of plate electrodes, a plurality of detectors disposed in directions perpendicular to the direction in which the ions are made to proceed by the pump and the direction of the application of the asymmetric time-varying voltage, and a signal processing unit for processing the signals detected by the plurality of detectors, said ion mobility separation device being characterized in that total transmission measurement is carried out in which the voltage control unit applies voltages to the pair of plate electrodes so as to generate equal electric fields at two or more different points in directions perpendicular to the direction in which the ions are made to proceed by the pump and the direction of the application of the asymmetric time-varying voltage. In an asymmetric-electric-field-application-type ion mobility separation device, the present invention achieves a better combination of high accuracy and high throughput than the prior art. |
