<p>Disclosed are a method and apparatus for recognizing a hand shape. The method for recognizing the hand shape includes the steps of: (a) performing the binarization of an obtained hand image; (b) producing the hand center information of the hand image in which the binarization is performed; (c) generating feature information including a distance distribution at each angle to the boundary of the hand image based on the hand center information; and (d) recognizing the hand shape about the hand image by comparing the generated feature information with the feature information about a plurality of reference hand shapes which are previously stored.</p> |
