Boxes, on being removed from storage compartments (14) on shelving (12), are taken away by an automatically controlled lift vehicle (10) to a discharge point (20) on a conveyor belt (16-19). They are then moved stagewise on the belt passed a number of picking stations (A-E). At these stations, items are removed or loaded. Then the boxes are transferred to an input loading point (24) and returned to their appropriate storage compartment by the lift vehicle. |
