Method for production of homopolymers and copolymers from monomers which contain amidosulphonic acid or salt, using high-energy mechanical stirring and a temperature in the final stage of polymerization which is about 93 degree C (200 degree F) below the degradation temperature of the monomer. A solid homopolymer or copolymer which can be used to reduce liquid loss is obtained by the method.
