PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect a focus regardless of photographic environment and movement of a subject by reducing an influence due to difference in exposure timing between a pair of focus detection areas caused by rolling reading in an AF sensor in which a pair of focus detection areas are prescribed.SOLUTION: On a light-receiving surface 101 of an AF sensor 100, at least two focus detection areas 102 and 103 are prescribed and the light-receiving surface is divided into a plurality of control areas. When rolling reading for reading an electric charge accumulated in an AF imaging sensor from one end side of the light-receiving surface of the AF sensor toward the other end side is performed to obtain a pair of image signals, a timing control circuit 105 shifts the timing of the rolling reading by a predetermined timing for each control area.
