Provided are: a method for producing a stable aqueous dispersion of a fluorine-containing polymer in which a fluorine-containing polymer having a high molecular weight is dispersed, the method having excellent productivity; an aqueous dispersion of a fluorine-containing polymer obtained by the method; and a fluorine-containing polymer. A method for producing an aqueous dispersion of a fluorine-containing polymer, the method comprising emulsion-polymerizing a monomeric substance including at least one species of fluorine-containing monomer in an aqueous medium in the presence of a hydrocarbon-based anionic emulsifier having a critical micelle concentration of no more than 0.09% by mass, and producing an aqueous dispersion of a fluorine-containing polymer.
