PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric rotating machine capable of: reducing a size thereof with a simple structure; and, in particular, being preferably used as a starter generator of an engine for a saddle-riding type vehicle, such as a motorcycle.SOLUTION: Magnetic sensor elements are embedded in a case body of a magnetic sensor unit which detects a rotation position of a rotor. A permanent magnet has extended portions which extend toward a side of an engine with respect to end faces, at the side of the engine, of teeth of a stator. The magnetic sensor elements are arranged at the side of the engine with respect to end surfaces, at the side of the engine, of the extended portions of the permanent magnet. When g represents a gap length between outer peripheral end faces of the teeth and an inner peripheral end face of the permanent magnet, the magnetic sensor elements are arranged so that at least parts of the magnetic sensor elements are disposed at the side of the engine with respect to the end surfaces, at the side of the engine, of the extended portions of the permanent magnet, and within a region of ±g in a radial direction, having the inner peripheral end face of the permanent magnet as a reference. |
