<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily discriminate a size of a manuscript after a start of an image reading device, even in the case of being incapable of discriminating the size of the manuscript during the start of the image reading device.SOLUTION: An image reading device having a first power state and a second power state in which power consumption is lower than that in the first power state includes: a manuscript cover to be opened and closed to mount a manuscript on a manuscript table; discrimination means for discriminating a size of the manuscript mounted on the manuscript table, following open/close operation of the manuscript cover; power control means for making the state of the image reading device shift from the second power state to the first power state; and notification means for urging to perform the open/close operation of the manuscript cover, when the size of the manuscript mounted on the manuscript table is not discriminated by the discrimination means after the state of the image reading device is shifted from the second power state to the first power state by the power control means.</p> |
