PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector capable of reducing optical coupling loss.SOLUTION: An optical connector 1 positions a front end surface 100a of a first optical fiber 100 and a front end surface 200a of a second optical fiber 200 face-to-face with each other to make an optical coupling and comprises: a first housing 10 having a cylindrical protruded portion 20 which cylindrically protrudes in a direction of a front end of the first housing 10 and has a cylindrical hole 21 which accommodates a front end portion 100b of the first optical fiber 100, allows a front end portion 200b of the second optical fiber 200 to be inserted therein, and can be elastically deformed to reduce diameter thereof; and a second housing 40 having a pressing portion 50 which presses on an outer peripheral surface 20c of the cylindrical protruded portion 20 to deform the same and reduce the diameter of the cylindrical hole 21. When the pressing portion 50 deforms the cylindrical hole 21 to reduce the diameter thereof, the front end portions 100b, 200b of the first optical fiber 100 and the second optical fiber 200 are held in the cylindrical hole 21 with the front end surfaces 100a, 200a thereof placed face-to-face with each other. |
