A session transfer module to transfer, subsequent to the network device switching operation from the first frequency band to the second frequency band, a communication session of the network device from the first frequency band to the second frequency band. The communication session resumes in the second frequency band using the security established for the second frequency band during the operation of the network device in the first frequency band.

A network device comprising: a security module configured to establish, in response to the network device being capable of operating in a first frequency band and a second frequency band, and in response to the network device operating in the first frequency band, security for both the first frequency band and the second frequency band by performing a single authentication in the first frequency band prior to the network device switching operation form the first frequency band to the second frequency band; and a session transfer module configured to transfer, subsequent to the network device switching operation from the first frequency band to the second frequency band, a communication session of the network device from the first frequency band to the second frequency band, wherein the communication session of the network device resumes in the second frequency band using the security established for the second frequency band (i) during the operation of the network device in the first frequency band, and (ii) prior to the network device switching operation from the first frequency band to the second frequency band.
