METHOD FOR DETECTING TOOL BLADE TIP AND TOOL SETTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide simple and rational means for detecting the blade tip of a tool which machines a workpiece gripped by the moving-side spindle of a 2-spindle counter lathe comprising a plurality of tool rests with regard to a method for detecting the blade tip of a tool mounted on a tool rest of a machine tool and a tool setter used for the method.SOLUTION: A tool type tool setter mounted at a tool fitting position of one of two tool rests provided on a machine tool detects the blade tip of a tool mounted on the other of the tool rests. A detecting sensor of the tool type tool setter can be installed at an accurate position from correction of the fitting error of the tool type tool setter to the tool rest by providing the tool type tool setter with a reference end to detect this reference end with a stationary type tool setter.
