<p>Disclosed is a free-type bi-directional clutch which has a simple structure, increases the transmission torque, and changes the state of transmission in accordance with the orientation of power transmission between an input and an output shaft. An operating element (6), in which a plurality of outer teeth (6t) are formed, and a cylinder member (5), in which the same teeth number of inner teeth (5t) are formed, are combined and installed inside a fixed housing (1) in which the input shaft (2) and the output shaft (3), which comprise a common rotational axis, are also installed. When the input shaft (2) rotates, the operating element (6), the cylinder member (5), and the output shaft (3) are in a locked state, and the rotation of the input shaft (2) is transmitted to the output shaft (3). Conversely, when the output shaft (3) rotates, the centre of the operating element (6) moves on (revolves around) the output shaft circumference due to an eccentric wheel (3s) of the output shaft (3), but the operating element (6) does not turn, and the rotational torque does not act upon the cylinder member (5). Even if the output shaft (3) rotates, the input shaft (2) does not rotate, and the power transmission is disconnected.</p> |
