[Problem] To obtain a printer that makes it possible to arrange a width guide in the vicinity of a printing unit without increasing the size of the device. [Solution] A printer that comprises: a printing unit that is provided to a main body unit (20) that forms a conveyance path (A) for continuous paper (P); a stepping motor (46) that drives a platen roller (41) that constitutes the printing unit; a pair of width guides (52a, 52b) that guide the position of the continuous paper (P) in the width direction thereof; a movement direction restraining section (64) that is arranged above the stepping motor (46) and on the printing unit side of the width guides (52a, 52b) and that causes the width guides (52a, 52b) to move closer to and farther away from each other; and a movement enabling/blocking section (70) that controls the width guides (52a, 52b) so as to block and enable movement of the width guides (52a, 52b). |
