The formation of fibrous wadding, e.g. of mineral fibres is effected by a gas stream which carries the fibres on to a conveyor belt. Part of the gas current is drawn off by suction from the periphery of its flow. The arrangement provides control of thermal conditions for the fibres, and alters the compression of the wadding by reducing the piling of fibres on to the wadding layer.
