The toothbrush includes s handle (2) which is provided with a brushing material container (6) and also includes a bristlecarrying rod (3). A rod root portion (3B) is inserted axially (by sliding) into a forward bearing portion (9) of a main body (5) of the handle. The main body has a rear end detachably connected to the container. A pumping mechanism (4) if provided in the main body for sucking out brushing material for supply to the bristles through a feed passage (8) in the rod. The pumping mechanism is operated as the rod is pushed rearwards and forward. The brushing material is in liq. or emulsion form.
