PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mass spectrometer and a method of controlling the same, capable of suppressing variation in amount of a measured object and reduction in accuracy of analysis result.SOLUTION: A mass spectrometer comprises: a sample container 8 for placing a measurement sample therein; a detector 9 analyzing a mass of the sample and detecting medicine and the like contained in the sample; a dielectric body container 3 coupled with the sample container, and provided for applying a discharge current to air and ionizing the air; a valve 2 for intermittently feeding air to the sample container, the dielectric body, and the detector; a barrier discharge high-voltage power supply 6 for discharge of the dielectric body container; a current detection part 5 detecting the discharge current; a discharge start timing detection part 7 detecting a discharge start timing on the basis of the current detection result; and a controller for controlling each component. The current detection part compares the detected current with a threshold set at the discharge start timing detector, and in a case where the detected current is larger than the threshold, the current detection part transmits a discharge start signal to the controller. The controller performs control so that discharge is performed in a certain time period after the discharge start signal is received. |
