摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmitter and a receiver capable of increasing frequency utilization efficiency, and having superior noise tolerance.SOLUTION: A transmitter 10 includes an error correction coding part 12 for concatenated coding of an LDPC code and a BCH code, a hybrid set partitioning mapping part 14 for converting a symbol configuration bit to a signal point series by a hybrid set partitioning method by which the minimum Euclidean distance among signal points is uniformly increased for a first bit and the minimum Euclidean distance is not increased but number of pairs of signal points of the minimum Euclidean distance is reduced for a second bit or after, an orthogonal modulation part 15 for orthogonally modulates the signal point series, and a coding rate setting part 13 for individually setting two kinds of LDPC coding rates, for the first bit and for the second bit or after, to the symbol configuration bits. A receiver 20 receives and decodes a modulated signal transmitted by the transmitter 10 according to the hybrid set partitioning method.
