<p>In a steering system, an operation mechanism (3) that includes an operation member (2) includes: a steering angle sensor (8) that detects a steering angle of the operation member (2); and a steering direction detection unit (11) that detects a steering direction of the operation member (2). The steering direction detection unit (11) includes: a threaded shaft (40) that is rotatable in the steering direction of the operation member (2); a nut (41) that is screwed to the threaded shaft (40); a nut guide (42) that causes the nut (41) to move in accordance with rotation of the threaded shaft (40); a stopper (43) that prevents movement of the nut (41) beyond a predetermined position; a proximity detection sensor (92) that detects a fact that the nut (41) is in proximity to the stopper (43); and a variable axial length mechanism (90) that reduces a clearance between the nut (41) and the stopper (43) in response to occurrence of a malfunction in the steering angle sensor (8).</p> |
