<p>An actuator (10) including a housing (12) having an internal cavity (28), a flexible but inextensible belt (16) mounted so as to form an open-ended loop within the cavity, and a seal/port assembly (18) closing the open end of the loop and providing for fluid flow into (38) the loop. One end of the loop is fixed (48). Fluid flow into the loop moves the belt (16) and causes the area enclosed by (and in preferred embodiments the length of the periphery of) the loop (14) to increase.</p> |
