<p>Styrene resin compsn. consists of 0.01-40 wt.% styrene-vinyl acetate block copolymer, (A), and 99.99-60 wt.% styrene polymer (B). (A) consists of 90-10 wt.% styrene repeat units and of 10-90 wt.% vinyl acetate repeat units. (A) is prepd. by copolymerising a vinyl acetate polymer contg. peroxy bonds in mol. witb styrene monomer. The peroxy bond-contg. vinyl acetate polymer is prepd. by polymerising vinyl acetate monomer with a diacyl-type polymeric peroxide (I) or (II) or with an ester-type polymeric peroxide (III). (I) has formula -(CO-R1-COO-R2-OOC-R1-COOO)-n (where R1 is 1-15C alkylene or phenylene; R2 is 2-10C alkylene, -(CHR3CH2O)k-CHR3-CH2-, in which R3 is H or Me and k is no. 1-9, C6H4-C(Me)2-C6H4- or cyclohexylene-C(Me)2-cyclohexylene; and n is no. 2-20). (II) has formula -(OOC-(CH2)1-COOO)-m (where 1 is no. 1-15 and m is no. 2-20). (III) has formula -(R4-OOOC-CHR5-CH2-COOO)-p (where R4 is -C(Me)2-CH2-CH2-C(Me)2- or -C(Me2)-C6H4-C(Me)2-; R5 is H, Me or Cl, and p is no. 2-20). The compsns. are used as moulded articles baving a complicated shape, large or light articles.</p> |
