<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold storage type refrigerator in which an expander can be airtightly connected to a compressor without reducing the generated magnetic field of permanent magnets provided at the compressor, and a method for manufacturing the cold storage type refrigerator. <P>SOLUTION: The cold storage type refrigerator includes: the compressor 20 structured to mount the permanent magnets 32 to one of a cylinder 25 and a piston 27 while mounting electromagnets 33 to the other and to reciprocate the piston 27 inside the cylinder 25 by the permanent magnets 32 and the electromagnets 33 to compress refrigerant gas; the expander 40 generating cold heat by expanding the refrigerant gas supplied from the compressor 20; and connection piping provided to connect the compressor 20 to the expander 40, including first piping 60 and second piping 50 arranged in series from the compressor 20 side toward the expander 40 side.
