<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To support a sheet so that a distance between the sheet and a print head is maintained within an acceptable range while reducing the effect of cockling. <P>SOLUTION: A printing apparatus includes a platen having a support part that supports the sheet conveyed in a first direction at a position opposite to the print head. A plurality of first ribs having the first height are provided along a second direction intersecting to the first direction and a plurality of cells sandwiched by adjacent first ribs are arranged in the support part. Two second cells having the second height that is lower than the first height are provided along in the second direction in the respective cells.
