<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigeration apparatus in which the energy efficiency of a compressor can be improved when carbon dioxide is used as a refrigerant. <P>SOLUTION: The refrigeration apparatus includes: a high-stage side refrigerant circuit in which a high-stage side compressor 1, a high-stage side condenser 2, a high-stage side main LEV 3, and a cascade condenser 4 are sequentially connected and a first refrigerant is circulated; and a low-stage side refrigerant circuit in which a low-stage side compressor 5, the cascade condenser 4, a low-stage side main LEV 7, and a low-stage side evaporator 8 are sequentially connected and a second refrigerant is circulated, and the refrigeration apparatus exchanges heat between the first refrigerant in the cascade condenser 4 and the second refrigerant in the cascade condenser 4.
